The goal of this project is to build a proof of concept of the « babylon code » in a distributed network storage system. This novel erasure coding method allows to reduce network and disk usage when reconstructing redundant chunks in network storage systems. This technology has been recently designed within our lab and has been patented. A start-up company is being launched. The goal will be to implement and test this new method and to port it in an existing open source distributed storage system (such as CEPH for instance), to test its performance and compare it with existing solutions.
